A. A little about me is I came from a very loved filled home with my older brother and mother where I found music at a very early age. I started singing around the age of 6 …in a nut shell I always knew this was what I wanted to do for a living which is entertain and see people smile and relate to my music. I mean if it’s when I did 106&park, the Apollo,awards shows or the small lounge shows I really just love what I do every single night .Q.Your performances are very exciting to watch and you put a lot of your emotions into them. What is the process of getting ready for a show?
A. Well of course major shows I have to practice a lot more for Dance rehearsals, practice with the band and etc, those are tiresome but needed to give a great show. For smaller more intimate shows with my audience I prepare by mentally focusing on satisfying the crowd by leaving any problems in the hotel room never bringing them into the venue you know? my vibe controls everything so I have to give off excitement,joy,happiness which is not hard at all being that’s my nature in general…I am a very down to earth man!Q. You have graced the famous and infamous Apollo stage where many legends such as Michael Jackson, James Brown, even a young Lauryn Hill have made an appearance in front of the sometimes brutal Apollo crowd. How was that experience
and more importantly…. how did you win the crowd over?
A. The experience was something no words could explain. I could say I felt the presence of all those greats when I walked in the building. To see their names on gold plates on the ground when you are walking into the Apollo told me “Damn, these amazing artist walked in just like me and waked out changed just like I will”, and truthfully the crowd is rather easy to handle if you are a true singer. All they want is the best, and in my eyes I saw it as another chance to show why I am the best. Confidence is a must when you go on that stage,or any stage at that.Q.You are very hands on in your career so how does that affect your personal life? how do you keep Shaun and Espy separate or is that even possible?
A. LOL, funny you ask it that way because there is a very big difference between the two. Shaun works for Espy. Shaun is apart of the Espy Squad to make sure things run very smoothly for all involved. Shaun is very much a home body, likes to watch basketball, loves WWE, very normal guy. Espy is the performer, the artist, the model, the entertainer. Espy is very demanding on Shaun,so neither one has much of a personal life lolQ.You give you listeners such an array of musical sounds from r&b,pop, and everything in between. How do you feel when people try to place you in one type of
music genre when you don’t try to limit yourself?A.People are always gonna put a label on you so they can try to form an opinion or tag you, which in this industry you can’t focus on and worry about what the media and what people say. Plus I allow my music to speak for itself . I am a lover of all types of music and if I want to do it ,trust me I will do it,but like no one else has before!Q.Let’s talk about the 106 and park performance. How did that come about and how did that impact your career?
A.Well 106&park producers seen me perform and offered me a chance to perform on their stage, so my team felt it was best at that time for national exposure to show more people what we are doing. Building more of a fan base,which that happened big time. 36 million viewers watched and some for the first time. 65,000 ring tones of my single “ERASING YOU ” was sold in just 1 day,and the buzz just grew even more from there. So I wouldn’t say at all it made my career but I will say it helped it out very much. So great positive impact from that I must say.Q.There are so many talented people wanting to be where you are right now, what advice and words of wisdom would you give them?
A. Expose your talent .not in just your city but everywhere you can get it . example, you may be hot in Chicago but if they don’t know you in Arizona ,you need to work more there and spread your product. Never depend on just getting signed to be known as a so-called making it. We have a saying in my team… WE MAY NOT HAVE MAJOR LABEL MONEY,BUT WE DO MAJOR LABEL THINGS… keep that in mind and never settle for local satisfaction you will be just fine!Q.One thing that I know my female readers are wondering is…. what do they need to do to become Mrs. Espy?

You’re welcome. I love getting down and dirty. X-man is an 80′s baby born and raised in OKC. I became one of the premiere artist in the midwest by consistently grinding and working hard. I’ve dropped a few mixtapes but my last 3 mixtapes ”Menace II O-City Vol.1 & 2″ and “The Remix” have gained me a lot of attention amongst the hip hop crowd in Oklahoma. I have a long way to go, but me knowing that allows me to never let up and keep going hard for my team and for my city.
Now you are gaining quite a buzz and strong following yet you are no overnight sensation. Explain the process of gaining fans and the work ethic you have?
My work ethic is crazy. I’m writing everyday, steady coming up with ideas, and strategizing. I get about 4 hours of sleep a day. But that’s too much sleep to me. I’ll sleep when I’m dead. Until then I’m getting to the money. As far as gaining fans I stay true to myself so that the people listening to my music will know that there listening to something that’s one of a kind because I’m like no one and there is no one like me. I’m always doing local shows so I gain many of my fans that way to.
Major record labels are suffering from declining sales and free media sharing sites so many artist have been doing the independent route. Do you see your self signing to a major label or to build your imprint Nuttin Nice records and staying more independent?
For now I’m more focused on building myself and my label as a brand independently. Major labels now and days slap artist with a 360 deal and I’m not falling for that. So if a major label comes with some good numbers and their vision for me is the same vision I have then yeah I would sign to a major. But right now I’m just looking to get a distribution deal.
There are plenty of regional artist releasing music and labels. What separates you from the pack and do you see your self just competing with regional artist or are you looking at drake and jay z as your main competition too?
I don’t consider Jay, Drake, or anybody regional as competition. I can’t do what they do and they can’t do what I do. That’s what separates me and Nuthin Nice Records from everyone else. It’s about being authentic. I’m not trying to imitate
someone I’m not or be like the next artist. I can only be X-man and the story of ”my” life is what my fans want to hear. I stay consistent with my work and the fans recognize when you’ve put your all into something. So as long as I keep doing me that will separate me from the rest.Sexy women and rap go hand in hand. Tell me about your background and how you got started in the industry.About 5 or 6 years ago, my friend Alfonzo Spigner introduced me to a guy named Quiwe of Lights, Camera, Fashion and they introduced me to the world of modeling! They would host Model Mondays, an event where models could come out and network with photographers, artists and each other. I did my first fashion show with them and instantly fell in love with the runway. From there, I became an LC Model and have been pushing my way to the top ever since.

Thank you so much!! I had seen a post on fb about the Miss O’ City pageant and that they were looking for contestants, so I applied! I always rep the Southside whenever possible so why not rep it while holding the crown? I had to submit an essay stating how the hip hop culture has influenced my life and submit a talent video. I did the Beyonce “Single Ladies” dance! Much love to Sherrard, “Boyonce,” for working with me on the dance!
Being Miss O’ City I will be the ambassador for the urban and hip hop community for OKC and bring together the local artist scene by showing others that supporting one another is key.
With you being in the modeling industry you have seen how some people use being a manager as a way to get girls. How do you deal with men hitting on you who claim to be photographers and managers?
That is a pet peeve of mine! I have so much respect for the men out there who are really just business oriented. For the most part, I’ve dealt with men who have been respectful. I prefer to work with photographers that others have worked with, so I know what I’m getting into before I get into it, but I let them know off top, I’m here to work. I think that’s why I get along with Hitt (CEO of LC Enterprises) so well. He’s never came at me like that and has always been respectful. That’s who I shoot with
mostly.do you feel Myspace and Facebook have changed the modeling industry? Is it for the better or for the worse?
I believe that it has. Since Fb and Myspace its a lot easier to get a foot in the door and have people see your work, I call it my online portfolio. I booked a job in the Bay Area, due to Myspace. Someone saw my pic and liked what they saw and I went out there and shot with a well known photographer. That’s also how I was picked up for LC. Social Networks are a major marketing tool. It has changed for the better because there’s now more of a chance to book jobs and find out about castings a lot easier, but it has also changed for the worse because now everybody wants to model!! Then you have these girls that feel that bending over in front of the cam is modeling, when not all models are like that. I’ve had sexy shoots, but I know how to keep it classy.
